FirstThen is a science-informed app for parents of children ages 4–11 with ADHD. Think of it as an ADHD coach in the palm of your hand. The app features practical parenting strategies, practice tools, tracking, and responsible AI to help build caregiver confidence in the use of new skills.
Importantly, FirstThen is not a clinical service or a replacement for formal psychosocial treatment. Please continue to consult your pediatrician or mental health provider for clinical care.

Founders Amanda and David were inspired to create FirstThen out of their own experience raising a child with ADHD. They built the app to bridge the gap between clinical support and the challenges of daily life. Our multidisciplinary team of parents, clinicians, researchers, and technology experts uses a co-design approach grounded in evidence-based best practices and responsible AI. Feasibility of the app was shown in testing with a cohort of parents and primary caregivers.

The name FirstThen comes from a behavior change strategy that links completing a required task first, before then getting to do a rewarding one. Our founders have leaned heavily on this principle to help their son with ADHD stay motivated and cooperative. The simple rhythm of using “First….Then….” over and over has been extremely effective for their family, but it also represents the wider philosophy at the heart of FirstThen: that big challenges can become more manageable when you focus on one small, clear step at a time.
